November Meeting - Cages & Enrichment

By: Carla Wood, Thursday December 8, 2016

The topic of the November meeting was proper caging and enrichment. During the presentation examples of proper cage sizes and bar spacing was discussed. The main point was that cages should be as large as possible with lots of room to move around with proper bar spacing for safety. The benefits of toys, including destructible, puzzle and foraging toys was also discussed. Having a variety of different toys is helpful to keep birds active, prevent boredom and diminish negative behaviors like feather plucking.

The turnout for this meeting was excellent with members, with or without birds, and new faces. There was a 50 50 draw with plenty of time to chat. Announcements were made for upcoming events.
