May 2015 - Chop Night

By: Stephanie J, Tuesday May 19, 2015

May 19th was our annual chop night at York Region Parrot Club, an event that allows all of our members to get together and help make a healthy fresh food addition to our parrot's base diet. The club provided ingredients, which included grains and pasta, several varieties of leafy greens, beets, squash, carrots, peppers, and various herbs and spices. Huge thanks to Lucy for cooking up the grains and buying all the vegetables. Thanks also to Stephanie for writing the blog, and Gino for taking the photos.

The members brought their most efficient selves for chop night, and with the help of three food processors, whipped through a huge pile of veggies in record time. Everyone got to bring home multiple bags of chop, and we've already received several pictures of happy parrots with chop filled beaks!

Several outreach events were announced as well. The club will be reprising their visits to Revera Long Term care on Tuesday, May 27th at 6:15 pm, as well as at Kanata Days in Newmarket on Canada Day. If you're interested in either event, please contact Steve, Lucy, or Bonnie.

Next month is our year end social. Please bring an appetizer or dessert and help celebrate another successful parrot-filled year!
