March 2012 - Chop, Chop!

By: Linda P., Tuesday March 20, 2012

It was a wild chopping night for the York Region Parrot Club. Our March meeting was organized by Andrea with great help from Linda G., Lucy and Marney. Chop is a way of preparing healthy food for your birds, freezing it into small portions and thawing it out each day. It is ready to serve without every day preparation. We had a hands on chop party. Plenty of nutritious veggies were put on long tables. Many members brought cutting boards and knives and they chopped and chopped and divided the food into baggies for all to take home. Some of the ingredients included green ,orange, red and yellow peppers, zucchini, parsnip, quinoa, shredded coconut, oats, cabbage, ginger, carrots, spelt, beans, nuts and baby cereal. We hope all the birds enjoy the chop food. 

As well as the chopping, in the background was playing the video from York Region Living which featured our members and their birds. Our library was set out for all to enjoy.

Thanks to all who participated in our raffle. Some lucky birdies are getting new toys and food goodies.
