November 2009 Meeting

By: Linda P., Tuesday November 17, 2009

What a wonderful meeting we had on Tuesday night at our usual Oak Ridges Community Centre meeting locale. We were so pleased to welcome all those York Region members, Simcoe County members, new members and guests and of course all those great feathered friends that “flew in” with their humans.

The raffle table was choc a bloc with great raffle prizes. The buffet table was yummy with all you can eat and drink for a toonie. There were 2 beautiful bird pictures in our silent auction. There was a table of vendor items, including bird toys and bird food. We had our candy guess with sugary candies to be won by the correct guessers.

Janet told us all about the Parrot Conference in Guelph which she and 9 other members attended. They found it a great experience.

Our speaker of the evening was Michael Carson from Birder’s Paradise in Stouville. Michael increased our knowledge about pigeons and about bird diets and illness treatments. Michael has been working with pigeons for 50 years. After his very interesting talk, there was time for questions and answers.

A great big thank you to everyone who made this evening so successful.
