September Meet N Greet Recap

By: Linda P., Wednesday September 17, 2008

Our new year started out with a great meeting in September. A great turnout of members, returning members and new members and lots of great birds. Carol and Marney were kept busy at the registration table.

Our executive introduced themselves and we learned about all the exciting events that our club is involved in. We are involved in the Thornhill Festival, the Markham Pet Fair and the National Bird Show in Richmond Hill.

The trip to the Niagara Falls Aviary in October will be exciting and in November is the Canadian Parrot conference in Guelph.

We have a club calendar with pictures of our wonderful birds. Any member can contribute to the calendar by submitting photos of their birds. The final pictures are decided upon by the executive.

We have club shirts which can be ordered online.

We have a library at our meetings with books and videos that can be borrowed and returned at the next meeting.

We have a wonderful food buffet at our meetings at the cost of $1.00 per person.

We have a great raffle at our meetings. Lots of fun bird toys can be had by the lucky winners.

We have a sister club the Simcoe County Parrot Club. Two clubs for one fee. Double the pleasure :)

Our October meeting is an open house. Everyone is welcome and costumes are permitted. Hey its almost Halloween.

We can all be proud to say we are members of the York Region/Simcoe County Parrot Club.
