Important Club Announcement

Dear York Region Parrot Club members and former members,

The executive has had to make a difficult decision regarding the future of the York Region Parrot Club. We regret to inform you that we are terminating the club meetings.

The website will be available until December 1, 2020.

The facebook page and community will continue.

Some of the factors that led to this decision are as follows:

Over the past few years the memberships have been declining. This past year we only had 20 memberships and it has been difficult to interest new members to the club.

Everyone enjoyed our meetings but they were all run and planned by the executive.. We had asked several times for members to help with ideas and planning etc.. but we got no responses.

The outreach programmes, which generated income for the club, were for the most part attended by the same people, although this year there were a few new volunteers and the club was very grateful for this.

The programmes planned for this season could not be realized because of the restrictions that Covid-19 has put on us.

The club was started 20 years ago and we are sorry that we cannot continue it.

We hope we can still keep in contact with the many good friends we have made during the years.

Best Regard,

YRPC executive.

December 2019 - Holiday Potluck

By: Christine P., Sunday December 22, 2019

There were lots of delicious nut-free finger foods and treats at our well-attended annual holiday potluck social on Tuesday December 17, 2019. Pizza, chicken, fries, samosas, meatballs, spring rolls, mozzarella sticks, macaroni salad, cake, Rice Krispie treats, fudge, cupcakes, cookies and more were enjoyed by the group. Everyone and their birds had fun socializing and eating together during this merry event.

Group members and their birds were able to get a photo taken with Santa. James has posted the excellent pictures on the group Facebook page. You can print your own from the link provided there or get a printed copy at our next meeting.

There were 3 candy guess games. Shayna, Daphne and Ron were the accurate and lucky winners.

Members took home gift bags with a bird toy inside.

Grooming was available for a nominal fee. Those birds sure looked sharp in their Santa photos!

It was a fun, relaxing social evening with everyone sharing food, stories and holiday wishes.

Please be reminded that there will be no meetings in January or February 2020. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting on Tuesday March 17th, 2020.
